A useful biomethane project brief does more than state a desired capacity. It gives the engineering team enough verified information to define process options, battery limits, site constraints and the work required before pricing.
Begin with the feedstock envelope
List each material separately, with daily and seasonal quantity, dry matter, expected contaminants, current handling route and available laboratory data. Record what is contracted, what is only prospective and how the mix could change during plant operation.
Define the required product
Grid injection, compressed biomethane, industrial fuel and combined heat and power create different gas-quality, pressure, metering and utility requirements. The product route should be explicit before the upgrading package is selected.
Describe the site as it exists
Include available land, survey and geotechnical information, road access, drainage, electrical supply, heat and water sources, grid proximity, existing buildings and interfaces with operating facilities. For a retrofit, identify shutdown constraints and current equipment data.
A good project brief makes assumptions visible before they become design changes.
Finally, state the required delivery model and programme: concept engineering, equipment supply, construction support or turnkey EPC; permit status; owner decisions; and the required start-up date. This creates a practical basis for scope, schedule and commercial discussion.
